My spam filter is a cinch

I just installed POPFile. It acts as an email proxy server and filters spam. Some complain that rule-based filters (even self-learning ones) don’t work because you have to watch them and defeats the whole purpose. This is true in a wider sense: filtering won’t “fix email” (as the popular notion holds that it’s broken), I’m hoping it’ll work for me. I don’t get that much spam, and when I do, it’s obvious.

POPFile’s installation and manuals are the best I’ve ever seen in open source software. The zip file is small; the tutorial is well written and concise. The software installed without a hitch—no restarts, no monkeying around with config files—and it automatically configured my email client!

I’m not so crazy about having a Web-based interface, but since POPFile is a server, I suppose it’s entirely within its realm.
