Looking for a game or two
The Games Journal is a great small magazine on board games. I just discovered it this month, when it’s celebrating its fifth year anniversary. My favorites are the reviews; I’m interested in finding a few new board games. We’ve been playing Settlers of Catan since December, and while it’s still fun, I’d like to have a few alternatives. Something lighter and faster to play, and then a game that’s more strategic, a “gamer’s game”.
It’s amazing how many games are put out each year. I can’t believe that game designers create three to five titles a year!
Here’s a list of games that definitely sound good:
- Amun-Re
- Royal Turf
- Ticket to Ride (better for casual players)
- Ticket to Ride Europe (better for gamers)
- Blokus
These games I’d like to read more about:
- Princes of the Renaissance
- Age of Steam
- Machiavelli
- Puerto Rico
- Attika
- Web of Power
- Princes of Florence
