Some things never change

So I guess I’ve arrived safely in Helsinki. The trip was mostly tiring, though interesting too, as long as it’s a one-time experience. I was traveling alone, carrying a huge duffel-bag, and already worn out from a week of intense living with four other people in a small apartment.

I met a lot of people on the way, and made some new friends, I think. Meeting people is fun, but it’s also—here’s that word again—tiring for a recently outed introvert who’s always thought himself the outgoing type.

Today’s the second day staying here at my parents’ house and already I’ve been re-enrolled in the household chore roster. So I’m back to Friday rug-beating and vacuuming—but only every third Friday, instead of every week. Hurrah.

Wednesday evening, almost fresh from a nap and a shower, I went to the launching party of a new independent art magazine founded by a bunch of Taik students, many of them old school mates of mine. Taneli and Ville and a third guy played music there (though not, as the playbill mistaken said, under the title of Ovali Virta). I don’t remember the name of the mag and haven’t had a chance to read it yet. Skimming through it, I did have the opportunity to not with dismay that it’s filled with Verdana, a type face I detest in print.

Walking alone to Taneli’s place after the after after party, I vaguely recall being angry and composing vindictive poems out loud as I walked. I remember being much impressed with how powerful my words were. Thankfully, however, none survived the night.

Yesterday—well, I wrote about yesterday in my dead trees journal, and will maybe post it later.

In addition, I will catch up with email, finish stupid banners that need to be done by Monday and... Oh, wait, you don’t need to know this do you.

Have a nice Friday (whoever’s out there).
